Sorry for the late update this week - what a crazy week it has been! I hope that everyone enjoyed their two days off. I want to send a quick thank you to everyone for all of the love Mrs. Vaughn and I have gotten during Teacher Appreciation Week this week! We are so lucky to have such supportive and thoughtful parents and even more amazing kiddos in our class! :) I did want to send out a few reminders: - There will be no school for students again on Friday, March 13th, or Monday, March 16th. - Check out the subject tabs above for some ideas on things to work on over the break. - Continue to practice sight words: have, then, she, very, could, what, that, when - Continue reading each night! - I have recently updated the Pictures tab with some new pictures and will be uploading more soon! Happy Monday Parents! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Here is a look at our week: - Tuesday is College Pride Day. Have your student represent their favorite school! - A letter was sent home in folders last week for our Read Across America/Dr. Seuss Week the week of March 2nd-March 6th. I will attach a copy of the flier below so your child can dress to theme each day! - Our class recently completed our "How-To" writing unit. To wrap up the unit, we created a class 'cookbook' with the kids' recipes. A copy of these were sent home to you today! :) They are so cute, I hope you all enjoy! :) - Please make sure that your child has a snack for each day. - PE days are Thursday and Friday, so please remember to send your child to school in comfortable shoes (no boots). -Next Monday, March 2nd, is a school-wide pajama day! - Review sight words: who, saw, put, away -Practice new sight words: have, then, she, very As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. - On Monday, we went to Science Lab with Mr. John. - Mrs. Y will join us on Wednesday for an IB Lesson for our current IB unit. - On Thursday, we will go to the cafeteria for a performance from Mr. Greg's Musical Madness - This week is Kindness Week! Have your child complete ten random acts of kindness at home! - This month's Cookies for Character Learner Profile is 'Caring'. - In math, we are pre-assessing for our new math unit on measurement and data. - Have your child practice these sight words: who, saw, put, away. Search for them in books, write them in chalk or shaving cream, or practice spelling them! On Friday, students are welcome to bring a decorated bag or box to collect Valentines. If you are sending cards/treats in, please make sure that you include enough for 21 students. Happy Tuesday, parents! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Please have your child wear comfortable, closed toe shoes. - Tuesday we will be visiting the computer lab to take the mid-year diagnostic assessment for math. - Review 2D shapes at home with your student: square, circle, triangle, hexagon, and rectangle. - This week we will begin 3D shapes! - Review sight words from last week: this, could, there, where. Have your child write them in chalk, in shaving cream, or have a word hunt and search for them in your favorite storybooks! :) - Be on the lookout sometime this week on the Shutterfly website for some opportunities to donate items to our class for a fun 3D Snack Shape Sort! I can't believe we are half way through the Kindergarten year! It was so much fun to hear about everyone's amazing Winter Break. I'm so happy to be back with these kiddos! Here are some reminders and updates for the week: - This is a library checkout week. Please make sure you have returned your child's library book by Wednesday so that they can check out a new one. - Friday, we will have our 3rd quarter Pep Rally! - Please do not forget to pack your child a snack each day. It may be helpful to pack it separately from their lunchbox so that they do not eat it at lunch :) - If your child is enrolled in an after-school activity (tennis, ballet, gymnastics, chess, etc.) please send me a change of dismissal so I know what days they attend these activities. This is helpful because some activities have ended after the first semester and will not continue this semester. - There are still two available spots left for Mystery Reader!
